Tomorrow one of my favorite events is going to start. RC44 Cup. The first event of the season is in Sotogrande, Spain. Im working with deferent teams from 2012. Since then I was a media crew with No Way Back team from Netherland, Team Italia, Gazprom sailing team and team Nika from Russia. This season my team Black Water is taking a brake ( I will make a dedicated post about them, as I really inspired to work with them, and they let me experiment and to do different sailing photography. Like Black and White photos I did for them. Actually my best pictures for Black Water team were done in Sotogrande exactly 1 year ago. But as promised, I will talk about it in the new post)
For now I just would like to tell you a bit about the class. The class was launched in 2007 and became very popular among owners, as they compete on the boat themselves. Usually in high class competitions they have all super professionals, witch sail for sponsors money. But here it is different. Some members of the team need to be amateur by the rules. The boat co-designed by five-time America’s Cup winner Russell Coutts ( His initials + 44 – length of the boat = RC44 ). With everything, from the keel to the tip of the mast, made from carbon, and with a powerful sail plan, the RC44 is rapid downwind, commanding upwind and performs exceptionally in both light winds and heavier breezes.
That is why to shoot this boat is always a pleasure! Apart of being able to shoot from the rib, you can be on boat during the race. This is how you get close to actions!
You can follow the event on my company page https://www.facebook.com/matrioshkasailing and official class site http://rc44.com/
